Food Lab is a social media app that creates a new culture with food beyond borders, regions, and traditions by offering people the opportunity to experiment with existing recipes and develop them into new versions, then sharing the recipes with the public and interacting with each other based on the experiments that they made.

Purpose

Food Lab aims to create a new culture within the food industry through the form of social media and solve the common problem of recipe apps, websites, and books being overly text-heavy and difficult to comprehend. Using playful illustrations and a unique interaction design, it offers a more digestible format for complicated recipes, providing users with a unique and enjoyable cooking experience.

Core Experiences

By clicking the plus icon on the bottom navigation bar, users can start creating a post by providing essential information such as the category, prep time, and serving size.

In the ingredient section, users can access a toolbar that allows them to find and add the necessary ingredients to their post. They can also adjust the measurements for each ingredient and add the ingredient card to their post.

For the recipe instructions, users can use a unique feature that allows them to create a visual guide by inserting stickers and gifs, similar to the way you place them in Instagram stories. Users can move the stickers and gifs around to illustrate each step of the process. This is a great alternative to taking pictures to create visual instructions for their recipe.

Once a post is published, it will include the basic information, the ingredient cards that the user inserted, and the visual instructions created by the user with stickers and gifs. Users can repost other users' recipes and edit them to create a new variation of the recipe.
